The new terminal is considered to be a remarkable importance for foreign trade of the country, taking into account that Pilar is the last point where vessels and barges can reach with 100 percent of their cargo, even during the most critical downpours of the Paraguay River.
Thus, it becomes a solution to the downpour problems, which benefits all Paraguayan foreign trade. Its strategic location is an advantageous option for importers and exporters in the South, Southeast and East of the country, which today have an agile, efficient and reliable port service throughout the 365 days yearly.
The senior executive highlighted the importance of the bypass route construction to the city of Pilar, which already has an advanced study plan by the MOPC. He said that the authorization of Caacupemí Port of Pilar will allow foreign trade to face the downpours of the Paraguay River, without decreasing in the volume of cargo.
Guillermo Ehrecke, president of the Fluvial and Maritime Ship-owners Centre, said that until the Paraguay River is made navigable 365 days a year between Pilar and Asunción, being able to unload in Pilar during the downpours is a fundamental issue.
He also mentioned that the managers of San Francisco began the work by looking into the future, besides being an occasion that will mobilize cargo and will generate jobs for many people.
