After going through the area where the new port will be located. Duncan Martin, Vice President of Caacupemi Port announced that the construction of the first private port terminal in Ñeembucú by Juan José Brull, PILAR and would be operational from August. It will operate 365 days a year and will be called Puerto Caacupemí-Pilar.
The San Francisco firm will make an investment of USD 8 million in the first stage of the project, according to the managed data. He also stated that the tasks for the future dock of the terminal have been initiated, and that the crane which is to be installed, has already arrived to Asunción, furthermore, it will soon be transported via the waterway to Pilar.
According to the entrepreneur, the new port will have: state-of-the-art technology, with a computerized system, its facilities will offer those services of loading, unloading of vehicles, containers and general cargoes of import / export goods. He maintained that the container yard has electrical installations with 100 sockets for the refrigerated boards, at the same time, for dry cargo and even project loading.
He mentioned that the crane will have the all the key features for this type of cargo, up to 80 tons. Martin indicated that 50 hectares of land in Ñeembucú was acquired for this reason.
In the first stage, the site will have 15 hectares for storage loads. To date, 15 people have been hired to operate the port, and are presently being trained in Asunción to manage the computer system. Taking into account all the technical considerations, this strategic site has good depth and gorge which supports the idea that this port will be operational within 365 working days, moreover, the behaviour of the Paraguay river, which in times of heavy downfall does not allow normal upstream navigation from Pilar.
